Introduction to IT
This course is aimed at those with little to no experience of using a computer. There are no entry requirements other than an interest in learning how to use a computer. The various topics include using a variety of software (Word, Access, Excel and Publisher) while also learning a little bit about a computer’s operating system, basic H&S and storing information on different media.
CLAIT is aimed at those who wish to develop their IT skills further. We offer three units in Word Processing, Spreadsheets and Databases. This course is for those who are looking to develop their IT skills with particular relevance in the workplace. This course is assessed by exam at the end of each unit.
Skills for Life
We offer Literacy at Entry 3 and Level One. Entry 3 is for those learners whose skills may need more developing and who may need greater support. It covers the major aspects of Literacy including Practical Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar and Reading and Writing for Meaning. The Level One course is the equivalent of the Intermediate GCSE qualification and is for those who may need a recognised qualification for work or just to ensure that their literacy skills are at the national level.
Numeracy is offered at Entry 3 and Level One. Entry 3 is again for those who may need greater support and development before tackling GCSE equivalent qualifications with Level One for those who need to be qualified for employment opportunities.
For both Literacy and Numeracy online testing is available at Level One and if success is achieved at Level One we can offer the Level Two (GCSE Higher tier equivalent) for a small admin fee.
